Just take it from some of my brides! All of them chose to have a destination wedding in the Bahamas for one reason or another, but they all agree that they made the right choice.

What made you choose a destination wedding over a conventional wedding?
I’ve always wanted to get married on the beach with my closest friends and family. I love nature and the ocean and have always thought about how naturally beautiful it is.
How early on in your wedding planning did you decide to have a destination wedding?
From the beginning!
Why did you decide on The Bahamas?
It’s pretty close to where we live and the water is beautiful. We also looked at Mexico, but all the resorts there would require us to rent out the hotel for a wedding our size, and that wasn’t something we wanted to do.
What are your biggest concerns about planning a destination wedding?
COVID, primarily.
Why did you decide to hire a wedding planner?
Well, I’ve never planned a wedding before, and I know it would be way outside my wheelhouse. Also, with the wedding being a destination, we knew we’d need someone with connections and experience.
What was most important to you when looking for a destination wedding planner?
Experience, someone who can work in our budget, and someone who could navigate planning a wedding during the pandemic.
Ultimately, why did you select Chic Bahamas?
It’s obvious Marva has a lot of experience and told us we would be able to make our vision come to life within our budget.
Describe the experience working with Chic Bahamas.
It’s been great so far— we’re about 4 weeks out and we are really ramping up the planning. We’ve had a few touch base calls and had our visit when we were 6 months out, and now that we are getting so close, everything is coming together!
Any advice for others considering a destination wedding/a wedding in the Bahamas?
You have to be flexible, agile, and trust Marva will work her magic! It was really cool to see her in action with another wedding when we were visiting our venue.
What is your favorite part about having a destination wedding?
All our friends and family will be in a beautiful place celebrating all weekend long.
What is your least favorite part about having a destination wedding?
All the travel changes we and our guests have had to deal with because of COVID. Airlines changing/canceling flights, protocols, health visa, passport drama— but we know it will all be worth it once we are there.
If you had it to do over again, would you still do a destinations/Bahamas wedding?
Yes! I think no matter what, wedding planning is stressful, but knowing we’re going to be in such a beautiful place with all our friends and family, and knowing how much pride Marva puts into her work, it will be a total blast and we are so excited to get married and celebrate with all our loved ones!
