Bahamas Weddings Beach at Banana Bay

Bahamas weddings beach at Banana Bay on Grand Bahama Island is breathtakingly beautiful. Sandbars to exchange your vows and take beautiful pictures, a rustic deck overlooking the wide expanse of beach with the blue horizon in the distance make this spot a winner.

Debbie Grass and Richard Benton of Maine set sail from Portland aboard their sleek sailboat, The Wren, in July 2015. Destination: Banana Bay, Grand Bahama Island.  Richard told Debbie, a rookie sailor, if she sailed to the Bahamas with him, he would marry her.  The two were introduced to each other by a mutual friend.  A widower, Debbie never dreamed of marrying again. The couple had never visited the Bahamas.  They were not disappointed when I took them to visit their Bahamas weddings beach venue at Banana Bay.

Arriving at West End on Grand Bahama Island where they cleared Bahamas Immigration and Customs, they then travelled to Ocean Reef Marina, Freeport where they spent some four weeks until wedding date, April 20, 2016.

Wedding day arrived and the day was perfect for the couple’s Bahamas wedding on the beach.  They tied the knot before some 24 guests who travelled to Grand Bahama Island to share this special time with the couple.

The stunning Banana Bay Deck was the venue for lunch.  Following their sandbar ceremony, the bride, groom and guests enjoyed a Champagne toast before sitting for a scrumptious Bahamian meal of delicious Conch Fritters as a starter and main course of Spiny Lobster Tails and Potatoe Salad.  Dessert: wedding cake.

Richard and Debbie have left Grand Bahama Island … very happy to have been here. They’re sailing aboard The Wren where life is good on their way back to Portland.  There, they’ll have a big celebration with lots more family and friends in July.  We’re honored to have been a part of their special day and wish them the very best and many years of joy.
