Bahamas Wedding Locations: Exuma
Bahamas wedding locations throughout our islands are wonderful in a very special way. From The Abacos to the Exumas, the islands are all uniquely different. Couples seeking a laid-back intimate way to celebrate with family and friends must consider the Out Islands of the Bahamas.
Kristin Hickey and Doug Bugden of New Jersey were in search of an Out Island experience to tie the knot. The couple chose the beautiful and chic Casa del Mar for family accommodations and nearby beach houses for their guests. Then, it was on to finding the perfect Bahamas ceremony and reception locations. No sweat.
Bahamas Wedding Locations: Little Exuma/Turquoise Cay
On a pre-wedding inspection, we visited venues and decided on all wedding details. It was love at first sight when the bride and groom set eyes on a sweet unnamed beach in Forbes Hill, Little Exuma, for their ceremony and the Turquoise Cay Boutique Hotel, now operated as event space and a private residence for their reception. Winning Bahamas wedding locations!
On Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., just before Hurricane Matthew arrived in the Bahamas, the couple said their I Dos before 22 family members and friends. The weather was sunny for the ceremony though a small rain fell later in the evening. We were covered as Turquoise Cay offers outdoor as well as indoor space … no challenge. In fact, Doug and Kristin were stranded in Exuma as they waited out Hurricane Matthew. All part of the adventure!
Bahamas wedding photographer, Chelsea Erwin, scouted venues upon arrival on Exuma and found the ideal beach spot to photograph Kristin and Doug after the ceremony. They were adventurous and, alerted to bring along shoes for the walk on the craggy shores to capture the above intriguing photo. Everything worked smashingly. We’re so excited to see more of the stunning documentary photography Chelsea captured on this couple’s special day.
The ceremony, conducted by Kristin’s brother, Matthew, was declared by Administrator Neil Campbell. Thereafter, group photos were taken before guests headed back to Turquoise Cay, a short distance away.
Celebrated Chef
Guests were in for a treat. Celebrated Chef Tim Tibbitts and his wife, Sommelier Rebecca and their fine team had passed hors d’oeuvres of Contempo Proscuitto and Melon, Seared tuna with avocado and tobiko, Coconut skewer chicken and Roasted red pepper hummus tartlet. Kristin and Doug wanted an extended cocktail hour so we did an hour and a half one to allow everyone to visit and the couple to enjoy the cocktail reception, too.
