The breathtaking islands of the Bahamas are a diverse collection of locales each unique, yet equally spectacular for a destination wedding. From exotic wedding ceremony locations and once-in-a-lifetime couples’ experiences, to family-friendly adventures and picturesque backdrops in abundance, the clear blue waters and white sands beckon couples to the Bahamas for an authentic island wedding setting no guest will soon forget.
With the help of Chic Bahamas Weddings, you and your families will experience the best the area has to offer.
EASE OF TRAVEL
While the stunning beauty of the Bahamas may seem worlds away, we’re actually very close to the Florida coastline. You and your guests can spend less time in the air and more time celebrating in the sand. There are direct flights to major islands from New York, Atlanta and Florida and many of the smaller islands can be accessed by boat for a unique arrival and wedding getaway experience!
VARIETY OF WEDDING LOCATIONS
Of course, we’re known for our sun and sand, but the Bahamas offers many settings for your special day. From tropical gardens and luxury marinas, historic homes and restaurants to over-the-top boutique and large hotels, your destination wedding options are as diverse as each couple we serve.
SIMPLE MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS
The Bahamas makes it simple to say “I do” in the islands. With a no-hassle wedding process, the country welcomes legal wedding ceremonies from the US, Europe and beyond. Chic Bahamas Weddings’ director, Marva Munroe, assists all clients with acquiring a marriage license for a completely seamless experience. Exploring the natural beauty of the Bahamas is part of the journey, but the Bahamas also has a bustling nightlife, charming art colonies, world-class dining and boutique shopping. Couples can swim with pigs on Exuma, gamble with guests on Paradise Island, dive for conch off the coast of Harbour Island, or completely unplug on any number of the Out Islands. No matter what kind of wedding or honeymoon you seek, the Bahamas offers an array of activities and a warm and friendly culture waiting to welcome you. The Out Islands
Don’t forget, there are many Out Islands on which to host a destination wedding: The Abacos, Bimini, Cat Island, Long Island and San Salvador, just to name a few! These islands offer a unique and more unplugged event setting where you and your guests can enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of the tropics with the utmost privacy. For couples seeking that off-the-beaten path island wedding experience, these exotic destinations, complete with beautiful beaches and unique ceremony sites are perfect for you.

Quaint, private, intimate, chic…all of these aptly describe the Abaco Islands, known throughout the world as a premier sailing and boating destination. The Abacos are made up of a 120-mile long chain of islands, with the “mainland” of Great Abaco Island and Little Abaco separated from the barrier islands by the shallow and calm Sea of Abaco.
Eleuthera and Harbour Island
Eleuthera is the setting for lush pineapple plantations, picturesque grottoes, hidden caves, beautiful hotels and spectacular surf beaches on the Atlantic side. Spanning 110 miles in length, it’s the very picture of the classic Bahamian way of life. Just a 10-minute boat ride away is the laidback enclave of Harbour Island, a magnet for actors, rock stars and royalty. Celebrities including Elle Macpherson and India Hicks both own homes here! Nestled among the pretty clapboard houses of Dunmore Town (known as the Nantucket of the Caribbean) are sophisticated island boutiques, gourmet restaurants, boutique accommodations and nightlife at popular spots like Vic Hums and Daddy Ds.
Explore the 365 individual islands, stretched like bejeweled steppingstones across 120 miles of ocean that have been the location for two James Bond films! The main settlement of George Town, located on Great Exuma, features a picturesque 19th century Anglican Church and is a popular location for island weddings. The Exumas may seem remote, but they’re home to some of the most exclusive private island resorts worldwide as well as a colony of pigs you can swim with in the wild!
Grand Bahama Island
One of the closest islands to the Florida coastline, Grand Bahama Island seamlessly balances stylish Bahamian simplicity with eclectic international influences. Honeymooners can spoil themselves at extravagant hotels and casinos while discovering sleepy villages and remote natural treasures. The capital city of Freeport features tree-lined boulevards and an International Bazaar overflowing with duty-free bargain shopping. Lucaya, the other hub of Grand Bahama Island, is a nature lover’s paradise with adventure safaris around the Lucayan National Park, boasting the largest underwater cave system in the world. Be sure not to miss Lucaya’s fantastic straw market and lively evening activities too!
Looking for a little romance? Take a kayak for two through the mangroves and sand dunes of Gold Rock Creek or explore the pristine Taino Beach (visit on Wednesday for a much-loved fish fry evening)!
Nassau and Paradise Island
Known as the crown jewel of the Bahamas, these main islands offer the perfect blend of sophisticated glamour and relaxed beach chic, ideal for destination wedding getaways. The country’s capital city of Nassau is positioned on the island of New Providence, while nearby Cable Beach (known as the “Bahamian Riviera”) represents one of the most popular destinations anywhere in the region. Choose between intimate boutique hotels or sprawling luxury resorts (like the new Baha Mar properties), indulge in exciting casinos and upscale nightlife or enjoy a romantic tour of old Nassau in a private horse-drawn carriage.
With a bridge connecting Nassau to Paradise Island, it makes the saying “cross the bridge and enter paradise” perfectly appropriate. The awe-inspiring Atlantis Resort, which dominates the skyline, is sure to take your breath away.
Craving some outdoor exploration? Paradise Island features one of the world’s largest outdoor aquariums, home to over 50,000 marine creatures. Paradise Island is also the pickup point for the dolphin and sea lion encounters at Blue Lagoon, as well as exhilarating powerboat adventures in the Exuma Cays.
Of course, don’t forget to leave some time for a more romantic rendezvous – love is always in the air at the 14th century Augustinian Cloister in the Versailles-styled gardens on Paradise Island!
