The Bahamas announced some changes to the COVID-19 requirements to travel to the Bahamas on January 4, 2022. Continue reading to find out what you need to make your dream Bahamas destination wedding come true.

❖ Bahamas COVID-19 Testing Requirements

First, the number of days for the required COVID-19 test has been reduced from 7 days to 3 days. That is, you’re required to present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 3 days before your arrival to the Bahamas. Also, the same COVID-19 test requirements now apply to children aged 2 to 11 years old to gain entry into the Bahamas.

Secondly, if you’re traveling inter-island from Nassau, Freeport and Eleuthera, you need a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 3 days before. This means that you may need to take another Rapid or PCR test. Say, you arrive in Nassau on day one, and your wedding party wants to take a trip to Pig Beach in Exuma the next day or some other day, you’ll need to take a rapid antigen test, as the test you presented on entry is already more than three days old.

Lastly, the Rapid Antigen Test results will be accepted from vaccinated travelers. Unvaccinated travelers entering the Bahamas will require a negative RT-PCR test. Therefore, you must ensure that the test you take is a COVID-19 RT-PCR test. However, if you’re staying more than 48 hours or more in the Bahamas, will be required to take a Rapid Antigen Test.

❖ Bahamas Travel Health Visa

Along with presenting a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test to gain entry into The Bahamas, all travelers above 18years old need a Bahamas Travel Health Visa. The visa includes COVID health insurance that covers medical expenses due to COVID-19 up to $50,000 within one month during your stay in The Bahamas.

The visa costs $40 to $50, depending on your country of residence. To apply, you’d need to upload your government-issued vaccine record card, and a negative COVID-19 test result took 3 days before your arrival date. This means that you’ll have to apply at most 24 hours after you take the test, as processing the visa takes at least 48 hours.
