Nassau Bahamas Weddings on the Beach: Kelly and Ben
Nassau Bahamas weddings on the beach at Sandy Toes, Rose Island, just off Paradise Island is the idyllic venue for bride’s dream for privacy and seclusion. Privacy and seclusion were Kelly and Ben’s vision for their destination wedding.
However, Sandy Toes was not the original Bahamas wedding venue for this sweet Ohio couple’s wedding. Their wedding had been planned for the lovely Banana Bay, Grand Bahama Island. But, Grand Bahama Island was one of the islands hurricane Matthew impacted. With only three weeks to go before wedding date, though Banana Bay had reopened, the planned host hotel was just days shy of completing repairs and reopening in time of Kelly and Ben’s wedding. Moving the wedding to another date was not an option. The couple decided to forge ahead with the original date of 11/5/2016.
Nassau Bahamas Weddings on the Beach – Forging Ahead
Undaunted, emotions under control, we worked nonstop to relocate the wedding to Nassau. Arriving on island five days before wedding day, Kelly, Ben and I met to review all wedding details in preparation for the big day. As the two had visited Grand Bahama on a pre-wedding site inspection, all vendors had been chosen. Kelly particularly wanted to keep the celebrant, Bishop Sobig Kemp and DJ Earl Neely. So, these partners were flown to Nassau for the wedding.
With their early on-island arrival, Kelly, Ben and her mother, Anita, had time to relax and to enjoy a day at Sandy Toes before wedding day. The venue matched their vision.
As the week progressed, family and friends arrived; excitement mounted.
The wedding group gathered for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Esta Vida Louge at the Melia Cable Beach Resort, host hotel, before everyone was transported by bus to the Atlantis, Paradise Island, for an evening of fun and frolic.
On Friday evening, the bridal party and parents were hosted at a dinner at Mahogany House Restaurant, Lyford Cay.
Wedding day arrived. The bridal party and bride’s Mom had early morning transfers to the Paradise Island Transportation Ferry Terminal for the 20-minute boat ride to Sandy Toes. The Villa at Sandy Toes had been rented for the day for hair styling and make-up and getting dressed.
Blue Water Color Palette Complements the Jewel Toned Ocean
Guests were later transferred to Sandy Toes via bus and boat. Welcomed with a tropical drink, guests were escorted to the beach ceremony. The day was perfect … a bit windy but gorgeous blue skies, lovely sunshine and low tide. Kelly’s blue water color palette which the maid of honor and bridesmaids were donned complemented the jewel toned ocean backdrop. Invitations and wedding day stationery were of the blue water color palette, too.
Steel pan music by leading artist David Hoyte greeted guests at the beach ceremony. Steel pan music is ideal for Nassau Bahamas weddings on the beach.
5 p.m. arrived and it was time for Kelly and Ben to be married at a religious ceremony. It was beautiful. Kelly’s mother, Anita, walked her down the aisle. Stunning in a Haley Paige wedding dress, the day could not have been more beautiful.
After the ceremony, guests were feted at a Cocktail Hour while David Hoyte entertained on steel pan.
The wedding was catered by celebrated chef Monica Hutchinson.
